San Andres, Romblon, is stepping confidently into the digital age, thanks to the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) MIMAROPA's commitment to ensuring the province's inclusion in the government's digital transformation efforts. This initiative underscores the importance of connectivity and digital literacy in fostering progress and development across the region.
During a recent turnover ceremony at Santa Fe Central Elementary School, DICT MIMAROPA Regional Director Emmy Lou Delfin highlighted the agency's dedication to expanding digital access in Romblon. Among the key programs is the Free Wi-Fi for All initiative, which has already established free Wi-Fi access points in all municipalities, including San Andres. This connectivity empowers residents to access information, education, and opportunities online, bridging the digital divide.
In addition to connectivity, DICT is supporting local government units (LGUs) in adopting digital governance solutions. The eLGU system, implemented in Odiongan, serves as a model for streamlining municipal operations and enhancing efficiency. Such advancements pave the way for San Andres and other towns in Romblon to embrace modern governance practices.
DICT's efforts also extend to promoting digital literacy through programs like Project CLICK (Courses for Literacy on Internet and Computer Knowledge). These initiatives equip residents with essential skills to navigate the digital landscape, ensuring equal access to technology and opportunities for all.
San Andres, Romblon, stands as a shining example of how digital transformation can empower communities, foster growth, and create a brighter future for its residents.
